Shawn Skelly

is a retired Navy officer who served in the Obama Administration as a Special Assistant in the Department of Defense and as Director of the Executive Secretariat of the Department of Transportation as the first and to date only out transgender veteran appointed by a President of the United States. She recently served as a Commissioner on the National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service, is a Co-Founder and Vice President of Out in National Security, and is a member of the Atlantic Council LGBTI Advisory Council and the Service Year Alliance Leadership Council.
